Many documents exist accurately identifying the historical reasons for Sunday keeping. One of the most comprehensive and exhaustive treatise on the subject can be found in a book that is highly recommended to those seeking a detailed study of the subject. The book is written by Dr Samuel Bacchiocchi, entitled From Sabbath to Sunday: A Historical Investigation of the Rise of Sunday Observance in Early Christianity. In the book Dr Bacchiocchi provides an abbreviated version of his doctoral dissertation as submitted to the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He received a gold medal from Pope Paul VI for earning the academic distinction of summa cum laude, for outstanding scholarship and rigorous scientific method.

In the pages that follow are summary statements of the historical transfer of the Sabbath to Sunday. With time various other articles will be added to this section.
